Meet Our First Lady

Close by Pastor J’s side for 26 years, is First Lady San. She was born in Brundidge, Alabama, and supported by her family, Bro. Larry (deceased) and Mother Agnes Bond, her sister Valerie Harris and brother Andre Lipscomb. She is a graduate of Buena Vista High School. After High School, she went on to attend Delta College, Detroit College of Business, and Wayne Community College. She also recieved her certification for Travel at the Travel Institute of Southfield, MI.  Her spiritual education however, was received under the guidance of the late Dr.’s H. J. and M. W. Coleman, as well as Bishop and Mother  Geraldine Wright during her stay in Detroit. At age 17, she committed her life to Christ. She attended the Geraldine Marvel Miller Wright Women’s Ministry Institute and is a licensed Evangelist Missionary. She served as the Purity Class leader at Greater Miller Memorial COGIC, and is responsible for arranging two trips to our National AIM Convention for the Purity Class. She joined Pastor J. as a very active member of the Greater Miller Memorial Church of God in Christ of Detroit, MI.

She realized the she had grown up around the love of her life, Elder Hurley Coleman, Jr. They were married on July 18, 1981, and to their union God added Natoya, Hurley III and Tasha. First Lady San has been very active in church work over the years. She has also written two books. “It’s Harvest Time: a manual for witnessing, and “Still Waters” a collection of original poetry. Under her travel business, she has planned international travel packages for the COGIC Mission Department to places such as the Dominican Republic, Africa, and Brazil.

Now sharing the leadership of Greater Coleman Temple, with Pastor J. she is the Director of Women’s Ministries. She continues to organize and lead the Martha W. Coleman Scholarship Fund. She has worked to strengthen the Women’s work through an enhanced organizational structure, meeting regularly to promote unity and leadership. Our First Lady loves youth, having been the President of the Purity Class and working with Children’s Church. As for Jurisdictional appointments, she served as the Assistant Leader of the Jurisdictional Purity Class, State Registrar, and currently serves as the Vice President of the Jurisdictional Ministers and Deacons Wives.
