Pastor J has a very rich history in leadership. He is the second son born to the union of GCT's founders. the late Dr. Hurley & Martha Coleman. Graduating from Saginaw High School, he went on to recieve his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in Community Recreation Administration. He bgean his professional career as Recreation Coordinator of Saginaw County. Later, as Recreational Superintendent for the city of Saginaw, the Anderson Water Park is an example of his accomplishments. In 1989, he became the Director of Parks for Wayne County (MI) Department of Public Service. In 2000, he was promoted to Assistant CEO of Wayne County. He served as the Director of the Detroit Recreation Department from May to September 2001.
Pastor J also served the Lord and the church faithfully. He was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1978 and accepted his call to ministry on Mother's Day 1979. He worked closely with his leaders to learn the work of the church and establish a strong foundation for his ministy. He stood by the side of our founders, learning his heart and unserstanding his love for God and people. He has experience in State and National activities of the Church of God in Christ. Pastor J serves as a national and jurisdictional adjutant for Bishop Earl J. Wright (Second Jurisdiction-Michigan), who was also his pastor for 12 years. He served as the Chairman of Jurisdictional AIM Convention, the College of Musicians, and Secretary of the Elders Council. After accepting the mantle of leadership for Coleman Temple COGIC, he was also appointed as the Superintendent of the Liberty District. He was later appointed as the 2nd Administrative Assistant to Bishop Earl J. Wright Sr. As for his national appointments, he was selected to be an overseer for the National Adjutancy Core for the Churches of God in Christ, Inc. His latest appointment came from Bishop G.E. Patterson, our former Presiding Bishop as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of All Saints Bible College. God has used greatly thus far in his life, and he propels his church into a greater call of ministry, service, and worship.
